Frequently asked questions

What is the Driving Member (571761) and what does it do?
The Driving Member is a splined drive flange that bolts to the outer face of the front hub and engages the axle halfshaft, transmitting drive from the halfshaft to the hub and road wheel. It forms the outer coupling of the front driveline. Fits Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
How many driving members are needed for a repair?
Typically two driving members are needed to do both front hubs, one per side, and they're usually replaced as a pair so both sides wear evenly. A single unit covers one front hub only.
Which vehicles and VIN ranges does this fit?
This driving member fits Discovery 1 (1989-1998) from VIN FA393361 to WA799999, and Range Rover Classic without ABS: 1986-1991 to VIN HA610293, and 1992-1994 from VIN JA610294 to JA624516. It suits non-ABS front hubs only.
What are the signs a front driving member is worn?
Typically worn splines or drive dogs on the driving member cause a clunk or play in the front driveline, especially when taking up drive. On these Land Rovers a worn member can also let the hub lose positive drive engagement.
