Layshaft Shim for the LT95 4-speed gearbox.

The shim sets the endfloat of the layshaft (countershaft) within the LT95 gearbox casing, fixing its axial position so the gears mesh correctly and bearing clearance is held within tolerance. Selective shims of differing thickness are used to bring the layshaft endfloat within specification when building or rebuilding the gearbox.

Confirm the required thickness against the measured endfloat before fitting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LT95 layshaft shim (576355) and what does it do?
The layshaft shim sets the endfloat of the layshaft, or countershaft, inside the LT95 4-speed gearbox. It fixes the layshaft's axial position so the gears mesh correctly and bearing clearance stays in tolerance. It's a selective-fit part used when building or rebuilding the gearbox.
How do I choose the correct layshaft shim thickness?
Choose the layshaft shim thickness by measuring the actual layshaft endfloat during the LT95 gearbox build, then selecting the shim that brings it into specification. These are selective shims supplied in different thicknesses. Part 576355 is one size in that range, so confirm your measured endfloat before ordering.
Which Land Rover models use the LT95 layshaft shim?
The LT95 layshaft shim fits vehicles built with the LT95 4-speed gearbox, including Land Rover Series 2 and 3, Range Rover Classic up to 1994, and the Land Rover Defender up to 2016. Confirm your gearbox is the LT95 before ordering, as later boxes use different internals.
