Layshaft Shim, 1.85 mm thick, for the LT95 4-speed gearbox.

The shim sets the endfloat of the layshaft (countershaft) within the LT95 gearbox casing, fixing its axial position so the gears mesh correctly and bearing clearance is held within tolerance. Selective shims of differing thickness are used to bring the layshaft endfloat within specification when building or rebuilding the gearbox.

Supplied as a single 1.85 mm shim. Confirm the required thickness against the measured endfloat before fitting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 1.85mm LT95 layshaft shim (576357) and what does it do?
The 1.85mm layshaft shim sets the endfloat of the layshaft, or countershaft, inside the LT95 4-speed gearbox. It holds the layshaft's axial position so the gears mesh correctly and bearing clearance stays in tolerance. This is the 1.85mm thickness from the selective shim range, used during a gearbox build or rebuild.
Is the 576357 shim always the right thickness for my gearbox?
Not always. The 576357 shim is fixed at 1.85mm, but LT95 layshaft endfloat is set selectively, so the correct thickness depends on your measured endfloat. Measure the endfloat during the build first, then confirm 1.85mm is the size you need before fitting.
Which Land Rover models use this LT95 layshaft shim?
This LT95 layshaft shim fits Land Rover models built with the LT95 4-speed gearbox, including Series 2 and 3, Range Rover Classic up to 1994, and the Defender up to 2016. Check that your gearbox is the LT95 before ordering, since other gearboxes use different shims.
How many 1.85mm shims do I need for a gearbox rebuild?
Typically a single selective shim sets the layshaft endfloat in an LT95 gearbox, so one 1.85mm shim usually covers the layshaft if that's the thickness your build calls for. Quantity depends on what the endfloat measurement requires, so confirm against your readings during assembly.
