Olive compression ferrule for sealing a rigid pipe at a threaded union.

The olive seats between the union nut and the pipe; as the nut is tightened it compresses onto the pipe to form a fuel-tight metal seal. It is used in the carburettor fuel supply pipework on the V8 petrol engine and should be renewed whenever the pipe union is disturbed.
