Crankshaft Sensor is the crankshaft position sensor for the 4.0L and 4.6L V8 EFI petrol engine, forming part of the engine management system.

Mounted to read the crankshaft, the sensor detects its rotational position and speed and feeds this signal to the engine control unit, which uses it to set ignition and fuel-injection timing. A failing sensor can cause misfires, erratic running, stalling or a no-start condition.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ADU7342L crankshaft sensor do?
The ADU7342L crankshaft position sensor reads the crankshaft's rotation and speed and feeds that signal to the engine control unit. The ECU uses it to set ignition and fuel-injection timing on the V8 EFI petrol engine, so it's a core engine-management input.
Which vehicle and engine does the ADU7342L fit?
The ADU7342L fits the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) with the 4.0L or 4.6L V8 EFI petrol engine. It applies to automatic transmission cars from VIN TA346793, so check your VIN and engine before ordering this crankshaft sensor.
What are the symptoms of a failing crankshaft sensor?
A failing crankshaft sensor typically causes misfires, erratic running, stalling, or a no-start where the engine cranks but won't fire. On the P38 V8 these faults often come and go as the sensor heats up, which can make them intermittent and hard to trace.
