Genuine Part
Genuine: Original manufacturer part. This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Resistor Assembly sets the blower motor fan speeds within the heating and air conditioning system.

Wired in series with the blower motor on the lower speed settings, the resistor pack drops the supply voltage so the fan runs at reduced speed; the highest setting bypasses the resistor and feeds the motor directly. It is mounted in the blower airflow so the moving air carries away the heat the resistor dissipates.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Resistor Assembly (AEU1747) used for?
The resistor assembly sets the blower motor fan speeds in the heating and air conditioning system. Wired in series with the blower motor, it drops the supply voltage on the lower fan settings; the highest setting bypasses the resistor and feeds the motor directly.
Where is the blower resistor located?
The blower resistor sits in the heating and air conditioning blower system, mounted in the blower airflow. The moving air carries away the heat the resistor dissipates, which is why it's positioned in the duct rather than elsewhere in the dash.
Is the blower resistor a DIY job to fit?
Fitting the blower resistor is typically a straightforward job with basic hand tools. It's usually reached at the blower housing, where you unplug the connector and remove the retaining screws or clip holding the resistor pack in place.
