Insulation Pad Clip A fir-tree style retaining clip that holds the under-bonnet sound-deadening and heat insulation pad in place.
The clip pushes into a hole in the bonnet panel, its barbed fir-tree shank gripping to trap the insulation pad against the underside; the large head spreads the load so the pad is not pulled through. These clips become brittle with age and heat cycling and are commonly renewed when the insulation pad is refitted.
