The valve regulates the supply of engine oil to the piston cooling jets, opening under higher load and temperature to direct oil against the underside of the pistons and restricting flow when additional cooling is not required. Fitted to the Ingenium engine family (2.0L 4-cylinder petrol and diesel, 1.5L 3-cylinder petrol, and 3.0L 6-cylinder petrol).
