Frequently asked questions

What does the exhaust manifold gasket do?
The exhaust manifold gasket seals the joint between the cylinder head exhaust ports and the exhaust manifold on the left-hand bank of the Jaguar 5.0L V8 petrol engine (naturally aspirated and supercharged, AJ133). It contains exhaust gas and withstands the high temperatures of the exhaust flow.
What are the signs of an exhaust manifold gasket leak?
Exhaust manifold gaskets typically fail from constant heat cycling, which breaks down the seal and lets exhaust gas leak. On the 5.0L V8 this usually shows as a ticking or blowing noise from the manifold, worst when the engine is cold. A leaking gasket should be replaced to restore the seal.
Is this for the left bank, and do I need the right too?
This exhaust manifold gasket fits the left-hand (LH) bank of the Jaguar 5.0L V8 petrol engine (AJ133). Each bank has its own manifold gasket, so if you're doing both sides you'll also need the right-hand gasket. Confirm which bank before ordering.
