Frequently asked questions

What does the Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal do?
The Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal seals the rear of the crankshaft where it exits the block into the bellhousing on the Jaguar AJ-V8 petrol engine. Fitted at the flywheel end, it retains oil at the rear main bearing.
When is the rear crankshaft seal replaced?
The Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal is usually renewed when the gearbox or flywheel is removed, or if it leaks oil at the back of the engine. Since access means dropping the gearbox, most people fit a new seal while it's apart to avoid repeating the work.
Which engines and models does this seal fit?
This Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal fits the Jaguar AJ-V8 (3.2/3.5/4.0/4.2L, NA and supercharged) in the XK8 (X100), XK (2006-2014, AJ40), S-TYPE (1999-2008, AJ28/AJ33), XF (2009-2015) and XJ (X308 and X350). Confirm engine and VIN.
