Spire Nut is a spring-steel sheet-metal fastener that clips over a panel edge or into a pierced hole to provide a threaded anchor point.
The arched spring body grips the panel and pre-loads the thread, allowing a self-tapping or machine screw to be driven without a separate captive nut. It is used to retain trim, panels and body fittings where access to the back of the panel is limited.
