Spire Nut is a spring-steel sheet-metal fastener that clips over a panel edge or into a pierced hole to provide a threaded anchor point.

The arched spring body grips the panel and pre-loads the thread, allowing a self-tapping or machine screw to be driven without a separate captive nut. It is used to retain trim, panels and body fittings where access to the back of the panel is limited.

Frequently asked questions

What is the AL614011 spire nut used for?
The AL614011 spire nut is a spring-steel fastener that clips over a panel edge or into a pierced hole to give a threaded anchor for a self-tapping or machine screw. It retains trim, panels and body fittings on Land Rover Defender up to 2016 where there's no access behind the panel.
How many spire nuts do I need?
Spire nuts are typically used in multiples, as trim panels and body fittings usually need several spaced along an edge. A single nut secures only one fixing point, so order the quantity your panel or fitting requires rather than assuming one will complete the job.
Where is this spire nut used on the vehicle?
This spire nut is a general body fastener on Land Rover Defender up to 2016, used at trim, panel and body-fitting points rather than one fixed location. Confirm the clip suits your panel thickness and screw size, since spire nuts are made in different gauges.
