Steering Box is the power-assisted recirculating-ball steering gear that converts rotation of the steering column into the swing of the drop arm, which in turn drives the steering linkage.

Hydraulic assistance is supplied by the power steering pump, with fluid routed through the box's internal control valve to reduce the effort needed to turn the road wheels. The box bolts to the chassis and carries the drop arm on its splined output shaft.

This steering box is superseded by part ANR5321.
