Seals the throttle body spindle shaft where it passes through the throttle body housing. A failed seal allows unmetered air to enter the intake downstream of the airflow meter, causing rough idle, erratic fuelling, and difficulty maintaining stable engine speed. Replacement restores a controlled air path through the throttle body.
