Tailgate Gas Strut for the upper tailgate lift assembly.

A gas-filled telescopic strut that supports the weight of the upper tailgate as it is raised and holds it in the open position. It compresses as the tailgate is closed and extends to assist and cushion opening. Two struts are fitted per vehicle, one on each side of the tailgate aperture, and they are normally replaced as a pair to maintain even lift.
