Ignition Coil - the high-voltage transformer of the ignition system, with a push-in HT lead.
It steps the 12-volt supply up to the high voltage needed to fire the spark plugs, feeding the charge to the distributor at each firing point. This is a ballast-resistor coil: it must be used with a matching ballast resistor in the ignition circuit, which limits the coil's running voltage and is bypassed during cranking to give a stronger starting spark.
