Gearbox Mounting Centre Bush

The centre bush of the gearbox mounting, providing the resilient interface that isolates gearbox vibration and movement from the mounting crossmember. It locates within the mount alongside the spring seat (companion part CBC2517).

A rubber-to-metal wearing component: perished or collapsed bushes allow gearbox movement, driveline vibration and harshness. Replaced during mount overhaul.

Frequently asked questions

What is the CAC3227 Centre Bush used for?
The CAC3227 Centre Bush is the resilient rubber-to-metal core of the gearbox mounting, isolating gearbox vibration and movement from the mounting crossmember. It locates within the mount and soaks up driveline harshness. It's a wearing part of the gearbox mount assembly.
What are the signs the gearbox mounting centre bush needs replacing?
A perished or collapsed centre bush typically allows excess gearbox movement, driveline vibration and a clunk felt through the floor. Once the rubber softens or cracks it can't isolate the gearbox properly, so it's usually replaced during a gearbox mount overhaul.
Where does the centre bush sit and what's involved in fitting it?
The centre bush sits inside the gearbox mounting, between the gearbox and the mounting crossmember. Fitting typically means supporting the gearbox, removing the mount and pressing the old bush out. It's usually done with basic hand tools, though a press or drift helps seat the new bush.
