What does a snorkel do?
A snorkel is a raised air intake that moves the engine's air inlet from the wing up to roof height. On the Discovery 2 it draws air from a higher, cleaner point, reducing the risk of dust and water being pulled into the engine during wading and dusty-track driving.
Which Discovery 2 does this snorkel fit?
This snorkel fits the Discovery 2 from 1999 onwards with the Td5 or V8 engine, mounting on the left-hand side. It connects into the air intake feeding the airbox. Confirm your engine is the Td5 or V8, as intake routing differs between engines.
Does fitting a snorkel make the vehicle waterproof for wading?
A snorkel raises the air intake, but it doesn't make the Discovery 2 fully waterproof on its own. You still need to seal or breathe the axles, gearbox and other components for deep wading. The snorkel mainly protects the engine from ingesting water and dust.
