Foam Cell Shock Absorber - a rear damper for the rear suspension circuit, controlling spring oscillation between the chassis and the live rear axle at standard ride height.

In place of a nitrogen gas charge it uses a cellular foam insert, freeing internal volume for additional oil and improving heat dispersion so damping resists fade under sustained load. Construction includes a cellular-technology tube, an 18 mm sintered rod, a 41 mm piston with a Teflon multi-lip seal, single-piece eye rings, polyurethane bush mounts and a powder-coated finish. Closed length 375 mm, extended length 590 mm.

Frequently asked questions

What is the DC6001 Foam Cell shock absorber?
The DC6001 is an aftermarket foam-cell shock absorber made by Allmakes. Instead of a nitrogen gas charge it uses a cellular foam insert, which frees up oil volume and helps the damper shed heat. That makes it resist fade better under sustained off-road use.
Which Land Rovers does the DC6001 fit?
The DC6001 fits the Land Rover Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and Range Rover Classic (up to 1994). These coil-sprung live-axle models share the suspension layout it's built for. Confirm your variant by VIN before ordering.
What's the advantage of a foam cell shock over a gas one?
Foam-cell shocks like the DC6001 resist heat fade better than standard gas dampers because the foam insert leaves more room for oil and aids heat dispersion. That suits heavily loaded or sustained off-road driving where a gas damper can fade. For lighter road use, either type works.
