Thermo Switch is a temperature-actuated switch in the engine cooling system that controls operation of the electric radiator cooling fan.

Threaded into the cooling circuit, it senses coolant temperature and closes its contacts once a preset threshold is reached, switching the cooling fan on, then opens again as the coolant temperature falls. This regulates the fan so it runs only when needed to hold the engine at its correct operating temperature.
