The belt runs from the crankshaft pulley to the air conditioning compressor and power steering pump pulleys, turning the compressor when the system is engaged and driving the power steering pump whenever the engine runs. A glazed, cracked or worn belt should be replaced to maintain reliable drive to both units and correct running tension.
