Frequently asked questions

What is the EEP191LLR parking brake warning lamp switch and what does it do?
The EEP191LLR is the micro switch mounted on the handbrake lever bracket. It closes when the lever is raised to illuminate the dashboard handbrake warning lamp, and opens when the lever is lowered, completing the earth path for the warning lamp.
Which Land Rovers does this switch fit?
This switch fits the Land Rover Defender up to 2016 and the Range Rover Classic up to 1994, mounted at the handbrake lever. Confirm with your VIN, as handbrake lever assemblies changed during these long production runs.
What are the signs the parking brake switch has failed?
A handbrake warning lamp that stays off with the lever raised, or stays lit after it's released, typically points to a failed switch or a poor earth. The switch completes the earth path that lights the dashboard warning lamp.
