Thrust Washer for the crankshaft main bearing assembly of the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine.

It locates at the centre main bearing journal and controls crankshaft endfloat, maintaining the correct axial clearance and limiting fore-and-aft movement of the crankshaft under load. The bearing faces carry the thrust loads transmitted through the clutch and connecting rods.

Thrust washers are produced in graded thicknesses so endfloat can be set within specification during a bottom-end rebuild, and are renewed whenever the crankshaft or main bearings are disturbed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ERR705 Thrust Washer used for?
The ERR705 thrust washer locates at the centre main bearing journal of the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and controls crankshaft endfloat. It carries the axial thrust passed through the clutch and connecting rods, keeping fore-and-aft crankshaft movement within the correct clearance.
How many thrust washers are needed for an engine rebuild?
Thrust washers are typically renewed as a complete set at the centre main bearing whenever the crankshaft or main bearings are disturbed. They're usually fitted in pairs to control endfloat in both directions, so they're not bought as a single piece for a bottom-end rebuild.
Which Land Rover models does the ERR705 thrust washer fit?
The ERR705 fits the Defender 2.5-litre four-cylinder engines up to 2006, the Discovery 1 2.5L 200TDi up to VIN LA081991, and the Range Rover Classic 2.5L 200TDi (1992-1994). Confirm your engine variant before ordering.
Does the thrust washer come in different thicknesses?
Thrust washers are typically produced in graded thicknesses so crankshaft endfloat can be set within specification during a rebuild. The required size depends on the measured endfloat, so check the clearance with the crankshaft fitted before selecting the washer thickness.
