Thrust Washer locates the reverse idler gear on its shaft within the four-speed gearbox.

It fits over the reverse idler shaft and bears against the idler gear, taking axial thrust and limiting the gear's endwise travel as it runs. Works in conjunction with the reverse shaft spacer (companion part FRC2008).

Frequently asked questions

What is the FRC2007 thrust washer used for?
The FRC2007 thrust washer locates the reverse idler gear in the Land Rover four-speed gearbox. It fits over the reverse idler shaft and bears against the gear, taking axial thrust and limiting how far the gear moves endwise as it runs.
Which Land Rovers does the FRC2007 fit?
The FRC2007 fits the Land Rover Series 2 and 3 four-speed gearbox. Fitment follows the gearbox type rather than the model year, so confirm your vehicle has the four-speed unit before ordering.
How many FRC2007 thrust washers do I need, and why do they wear?
Typically one reverse idler thrust washer is fitted per four-speed gearbox. These washers usually wear slowly, allowing excess endfloat in the reverse idler gear that can cause whine or poor reverse engagement. They're normally renewed during a gearbox rebuild.
What's the difference between the FRC2007 and the FRC2008 thrust washer?
The FRC2007 is the thrust washer for the reverse idler gear, while the FRC2008 is the thrust washer for the reverse gear itself. Both sit in the same four-speed gearbox reverse train, so check which shaft you're working on to order the right one.
