Layshaft Bearing for the R380 five-speed manual gearbox. This taper roller bearing supports the layshaft (countershaft) within the gearbox casing, carrying the constant-mesh gear cluster that transmits drive from the input shaft to the mainshaft.
The taper roller design locates the layshaft against both radial and axial load, and its shimming sets the layshaft endfloat. A worn or pitted bearing produces gear-train whine and can allow endfloat that makes gear engagement notchy.
