Frequently asked questions

What is the FTC4043 propshaft bolt?
The FTC4043 is an M12 x 65mm propshaft bolt in property class 10.9. It secures the rear propshaft to its rubber coupling, the flexible drive coupling at the propshaft joint. The high-tensile 10.9 grade is rated to carry the drive torque passing through that coupling.
How many of these bolts do I need?
A rear propshaft rubber coupling is typically held by several bolts, so you'll usually need more than one FTC4043 for the joint. Check how many bolts your coupling uses and order a full set, since mixing old and new fasteners on a drive joint isn't advisable.
Where is this bolt used?
This bolt fits the rear propshaft rubber coupling on the Discovery 1, Discovery 2, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38. It clamps the propshaft flange to the coupling, transmitting drive from the gearbox output through to the propshaft.
Can these propshaft bolts be reused?
High-tensile drive bolts like this are best renewed rather than reused once disturbed. A 10.9 bolt that's been torqued and worked under load can lose clamping accuracy, and a loose propshaft coupling bolt is a serious fault, so fitting fresh bolts on reassembly is the safer choice.
