The release bearing guide (also known as the front cover or input shaft sleeve) is the tubular housing that the clutch release bearing slides along during clutch pedal operation. It is bolted to the front face of the gearbox bell housing and provides the bearing travel path as well as a mounting point for the release fork pivot. Correct fit and condition of the guide is essential for smooth, accurate clutch engagement and disengagement.
