Clutch Release Bearing installed within the Clutch & Flywheel Assembly, operating between the clutch release fork and the clutch cover diaphragm spring.

When the clutch pedal is depressed, the bearing transmits axial force from the release fork through to the diaphragm spring, withdrawing the pressure plate and releasing the driven plate from the flywheel.

Frequently asked questions

What does the FTC5200 clutch release bearing do?
The FTC5200 release bearing sits between the clutch release fork and the diaphragm spring on the clutch cover. When you press the clutch pedal, it transfers force from the fork to the spring, pulling the pressure plate back and disengaging the clutch.
How many release bearings does a clutch job need?
Just one FTC5200 per clutch replacement. It's standard practice to renew the release bearing whenever the clutch is replaced, since it wears alongside the friction plate and its failure means removing the gearbox again.
Which manual gearboxes does the FTC5200 fit?
The FTC5200 fits LT77, LT85 and R380 manual transmissions across the Series 2 and 3, Defender (1987-2006), Discovery 1, Discovery 2, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38. Check your gearbox type before ordering since these models span both petrol and diesel variants.
