LED Indicator Lamp Load Device is a load resistor for the indicator (turn-signal) circuit, used when LED indicator lamps replace the original filament bulbs.

An LED draws far less current than the filament bulb it replaces, so the flasher circuit reads the reduced load as a failed bulb and flashes rapidly (hyper-flash) or raises a bulb-failure warning. Wired in parallel with the LED lamp, the load device restores the electrical load the circuit expects and returns the indicator to its normal flash rate.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LED indicator lamp load device for?
The LED indicator lamp load device is a load resistor for the indicator (turn-signal) circuit. It's used when LED indicator lamps replace the original filament bulbs, restoring the electrical load the flasher circuit expects so the indicators flash at the normal rate.
Why do LED indicators flash too fast without this device?
LED indicators draw far less current than filament bulbs, so the flasher circuit reads the reduced load as a failed bulb and flashes rapidly (hyper-flash) or shows a bulb-failure warning. The load device adds back the expected load, returning the indicator circuit to its normal flash rate.
How many load devices do I need?
You typically need one load device per LED indicator lamp that's triggering the fault, so converting the indicators on one side usually means one per lamp. Wired into the turn-signal circuit, each device compensates for a single LED's reduced current draw.
How is the LED load device wired in?
The load device wires in parallel with the LED indicator lamp on the turn-signal circuit. This parallel connection draws the extra current the flasher needs without affecting the lamp itself. This item is also listed under the cross-reference DA114412V. It's a straightforward wiring job for anyone comfortable with auto electrics.
