Transfer Case Output Shaft Oil Seal seals the output shaft where it exits the transfer case housing. It runs against the rotating shaft to retain the transfer case oil and to exclude road dirt and water from the shaft bore and adjacent bearing.

A worn or hardened seal lets oil weep from the output, so it is commonly renewed whenever the propshaft or output flange is removed for service.

Frequently asked questions

What does the IZB500020Z output shaft seal do?
The IZB500020Z is an oil seal for the transfer case output shaft on the Range Rover L322. It seals against the rotating shaft to retain transfer case oil and keep dirt and water out of the shaft bore and bearing.
When should this seal be replaced?
This seal is commonly renewed whenever the propshaft or output flange is removed for service, since disturbing the flange risks damaging a seal that's already worn. A hardened or worn seal typically shows up as an oil weep at the output shaft.
Which Range Rover engines does this seal fit?
This output shaft seal fits the 2002-2009 Range Rover L322 with either the M57 3.0-litre diesel or the M62 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine.
