Heater Matrix is the coolant-to-air heat exchanger inside the heater and air conditioning housing.

Engine coolant is routed through the matrix core while air drawn through the housing by the blower motor passes across its fins, warming the air before it reaches the cabin vents. It provides both cabin heating and the windscreen demist function.

Typical symptoms of a failed matrix are cold air from the vents with the temperature set to maximum, a sweet coolant smell inside the cabin, damp carpet in the front footwell and persistent misting of the windscreen.
