Air Conditioning Compressor - the engine-driven pump at the head of the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.

Driven by the auxiliary belt from the crankshaft pulley, the compressor draws low-pressure refrigerant vapour from the evaporator outlet and discharges it at high pressure to the condenser, where it gives up heat and condenses back to liquid. Drive is taken up and released by an electromagnetic clutch on the compressor pulley, which the climate control system engages on demand.

For the 2.5L KV6 V6 petrol engine with automatic transmission and factory-fitted air conditioning.

The refrigerant circuit must be evacuated before removal and recharged with the correct refrigerant and compressor oil charge after fitting.
