ABS Speed Sensor (Front) - the wheel-speed sensor for the front of the anti-lock braking system.

Mounted at the front hub, it reads the rotation of the ABS reluctor (tone) ring and sends a wheel-speed signal to the ABS and stability-control module. That signal governs anti-lock braking and traction/stability control; a failed sensor typically sets a fault code and disables ABS on the affected corner.

Frequently asked questions

What does the front ABS speed sensor do?
The front ABS speed sensor reads wheel rotation at the front hub on a Freelander 2 and sends a wheel-speed signal to the ABS and stability-control module. It picks up the reluctor (tone) ring, and that signal governs anti-lock braking and traction control on that corner.
How many ABS sensors do I need?
This is a single front sensor covering one front wheel. The Freelander 2 has a separate speed sensor at each corner, so if only one side has failed you typically need just this one. Replacing the matching sensor on the other front wheel is optional unless it's also faulty.
What are the signs of a failed front ABS sensor?
A failed front ABS speed sensor on a Freelander 2 typically triggers the ABS warning light and stores a fault code, disabling anti-lock braking and stability control on that corner. Intermittent ABS activation or traction-control faults at low speed are common symptoms before total failure.
Will this fit my Freelander 2?
This front ABS speed sensor fits the Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006-2014), all engines, and mounts at the front hub. Front and rear sensors can differ, so confirm you're ordering the front sensor and check your VIN if you're unsure of your vehicle's exact build.
