Valve Stem Oil Seal seats on the valve guide within the cylinder head valvetrain, sealing the point where the valve stem passes through the guide.

It meters the oil film on the stem, preventing excess lubricating oil from being drawn down the guide into the intake or exhaust port. Fitted to the 2.2L and 2.4L Duratorq TDCi diesel cylinder head.
