Water Pump for the 3.2L DOHC petrol inline-six - the circulating pump of the engine cooling system.

The pump draws coolant from the radiator outlet and forces it through the cylinder block and head, returning it to the radiator once the thermostat opens. Its impeller runs on a shaft carried in a sealed bearing, with a mechanical face seal separating the coolant side from the bearing; wear of that seal shows as a coolant weep from the drain hole in the pump body.

Mating faces must be clean before fitting, and the cooling system refilled and bled once the pump is replaced.

Frequently asked questions

What does the water pump do on the Freelander 2 3.2?
The water pump circulates coolant through the engine and radiator on the Freelander 2 3.2L petrol I6, keeping the engine at operating temperature. It's an Aftermarket pump driven by the engine, moving coolant whenever the engine runs.
Where is the water pump located?
The water pump is mounted on the 3.2L petrol I6 engine and driven by the belt system, circulating coolant through the block and head. Replacing it typically means removing drive belt components for access.
Which model does this water pump fit?
This water pump fits the Freelander 2 (2006-2014) with the 3.2L DOHC MPI petrol I6 only. It does not fit the 2.2 diesel Freelander 2, so confirm your engine is the 3.2 petrol before ordering.
What are the signs of a failing water pump?
A failing water pump usually shows as coolant leaks from the pump, a whine or rumble from a worn bearing, or overheating from poor circulation. On the 3.2 petrol I6 these signs mean the pump should be replaced to protect the engine.
