Bonnet Gas Strut a gas-filled telescopic support for the bonnet.
It counterbalances the weight of the bonnet, assisting opening and holding it securely in the raised position. The sealed gas charge extends the strut as the bonnet is lifted and damps its travel. A strut that no longer holds the bonnet up has lost its charge and should be renewed.
