Vacuum Pump - the engine-driven pump that supplies vacuum to the brake servo on the 3.2L I6 petrol engine.

The servo depends on a vacuum reserve to multiply the driver's pedal effort. On this engine, intake manifold depression alone does not provide a dependable supply across the full operating range, so a mechanical pump driven by the engine maintains the vacuum in the servo chamber.

Loss of pump output shows as a hard brake pedal with little or no servo assistance, most noticeable after several brake applications in quick succession.
