Frequently asked questions

What is the LR010667 tie rod repair kit for?
It's a steering tie rod repair kit that renews the track rod link within the steering gear on the Discovery 3 and Discovery 4. It reconnects the steering linkage to the wheel hub, with an M16 inner thread and an M14 outer ball joint.
What's the difference between this and a track rod end on its own?
This is the full tie rod repair kit with the M16 inner thread and M14 outer ball joint, not just the outer end. If only the outer ball joint is worn, a standalone M14 track rod end may suit instead, so check which part of your linkage is worn.
What are the signs the track rod is worn?
Typical signs are play in the steering, uneven tyre wear, or a knock when turning. A worn tie rod joint on the Discovery 3 or 4 affects steering precision, so replace it and have the tracking reset afterwards.
