Brand Denso
Lambda Sensor (heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor) fitted upstream of the catalytic converter on the 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine (AJ133), in both naturally aspirated and supercharged form.

It measures the residual oxygen content of the exhaust gas leaving the cylinder head and reports it to the engine control module, which uses the signal to trim fuelling and hold the air/fuel ratio at its target under closed-loop control. A deteriorating sensor typically shows up as raised fuel consumption, an unstable idle or a fuelling-related fault code.

Two upstream sensors are fitted per vehicle, one on each cylinder bank.

Frequently asked questions

What does the lambda sensor do on a 5.0 V8?
The lambda sensor measures oxygen in the exhaust so the ECU can trim the fuel mixture on the 5.0L V8 petrol (AJ133). It fits the Discovery 4 (2010-2016), Range Rover L322 and Range Rover Sport L320. Accurate readings keep fuelling and emissions correct.
Where is the lambda sensor located on the V8 exhaust?
The lambda sensor screws into the exhaust system on the 5.0L V8 petrol engine, typically before and after the catalytic converter. It reads exhaust oxygen and reports to the engine management on the Discovery 4 and Range Rover models.
What are the signs of a failing lambda sensor?
A failing lambda sensor usually causes poor fuel economy, rough running, and an illuminated engine light on the 5.0 V8 petrol. The ECU may log an oxygen sensor fault and default to a fixed fuel map on the Discovery 4 or Range Rover.
Does this lambda sensor fit diesel V8 models?
No, this lambda sensor fits the 5.0L V8 petrol (AJ133) only, on the Discovery 4, Range Rover L322 and Range Rover Sport L320. It does not fit diesel variants. Confirm your engine by VIN before ordering.
