O-ring for the variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid, part of the timing gear assembly at the front of the engine.

The solenoid meters oil flow to the camshaft phasers; this seal sits on the solenoid body where it enters its mounting bore and contains the pressurised oil feed. It is renewed whenever the solenoid is removed or replaced.

Petrol engines only - 5.0L V8 (AJ133) and 3.0L supercharged V6 GDI. Not used on diesel engines.

What is the LR011954 VVT solenoid O-ring used for?
The LR011954 is an O-ring that seals the variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid on petrol engines, covering the 5.0L V8 (AJ133) and 3.0L supercharged V6. It stops oil weeping past the solenoid where it fits into the timing cover.
Does this O-ring fit diesel engines?
No. This VVT solenoid O-ring fits petrol engines only, the 5.0L V8 and 3.0L supercharged V6, and does not fit diesel variants. It covers the Defender 2020+, Discovery 4 and 5, Range Rover L322 and L405, Range Rover Sport L320 and L494, and Velar.
Can the VVT solenoid O-ring be reused?
Replace this O-ring whenever the VVT solenoid is removed. Rubber seals harden and take a set with heat, so fitting a new one avoids an oil leak at the solenoid on the 5.0L V8 or 3.0L V6 petrol engine.
