Brake Pad Wear Sensor - Front - pad wear warning sensor for the front brakes, forming part of the brake pad wear warning circuit.
The sensor locates in the front brake pad and carries a loop of wire routed close to the friction surface. As the pad wears down to its replacement limit the disc cuts through the loop, the circuit opens and the instrument pack raises the pad wear warning. The sensor is consumed by the wear it measures, so it is fitted new with the pads rather than carried over; a sensor cut on a previous set will hold the warning on regardless of the condition of the new pads.
Route the lead clear of the disc, the caliper and the full range of suspension and steering travel, and clip it back into its original retainers so it cannot chafe or be pulled taut on full lock.
