EGR Valve Assembly for the left-hand cylinder bank of the 3.0L V6 24V DOHC turbo diesel engine, supplied as an assembly with its EGR cooler.

The exhaust gas recirculation system returns a metered portion of exhaust gas to the intake charge to lower peak combustion temperature and reduce NOx formation. The cooler drops the temperature of that recirculated gas before it reaches the intake, which both improves the emissions benefit and protects downstream components. The 3.0L V6 diesel uses a separate valve and cooler for each cylinder bank; this is the left-hand unit.

Carbon fouling of the valve seat and of the cooler core is the usual failure mode, showing as restricted flow, EGR fault codes and reduced performance.

Frequently asked questions

What does the EGR valve assembly do on the 3.0 V6 diesel?
The EGR valve returns a metered portion of exhaust gas to the intake charge on the 3.0 V6 diesel, lowering peak combustion temperature and cutting NOx formation. This assembly includes the EGR cooler, which drops the temperature of the recirculated gas before it reaches the intake.
Why is this the left-hand unit, and does the right-hand side need one too?
The 3.0 V6 diesel uses a separate EGR valve and cooler for each cylinder bank, and LR018752 is the left-hand unit. The right-hand bank takes its own assembly, so ordering the wrong side is easy. Confirm which bank you're working on before ordering.
Why do these EGR valves fail?
Carbon fouling of the valve seat and the cooler core is the usual failure mode on the 3.0 V6 diesel. It shows as restricted flow, EGR fault codes and reduced performance. Short journeys and heavy idling accelerate the build up, since the exhaust never gets hot enough to keep the passages clear.
Which vehicles does it fit?
It's listed for the 3.0 V6 diesel in the Discovery 4 2010-2016 from VIN AA000001, Discovery 5 2017, Range Rover L405 2013 on, and Range Rover Sport L320 2010-2013 and L494 2014 on. Confirm against your VIN, since the 3.0 diesel spans several platforms.
