Brake Pad Wear Sensor is the front brake pad wear warning wire in the braking system's wear-indication circuit.

Routed to the front pad, it completes a low-current circuit to the instrument cluster. As the friction material wears to its limit the sensor element is breached, opening the circuit and triggering the brake pad wear warning. Used on the 5.0L V8 petrol application.

Frequently asked questions

What does the front brake pad wear sensor do?
The front brake pad wear sensor is a warning wire routed to the front pad that completes a low-current circuit to the instrument cluster. As the friction material wears to its limit, the sensor element is breached and the circuit opens, triggering the brake pad wear warning on the dash.
Which vehicle and engine does this sensor fit?
This front brake pad wear sensor fits the Range Rover Sport (2010-2013) with the 5.0L OHC SGDI SC V8 petrol engine (AJ133) only, from VIN AA000001. Land Rover part number LR019401. It's engine specific, so confirm your vehicle runs the 5.0 V8 petrol before ordering.
When should the brake pad wear sensor be replaced?
Replace the front brake pad wear sensor once the dash warning has triggered, which usually means the front pads have reached their wear limit. The sensor is breached as the pad wears down, so it's typically renewed together with the front brake pads on the Range Rover Sport.
Can the brake pad wear sensor be reused?
A brake pad wear sensor that has already triggered can't be reused, since its element is physically breached once the pads wear out. Even if it hasn't triggered, fitting a new sensor with new front pads is usual practice on the 5.0 V8 Range Rover Sport.
