Intercooler is the charge-air cooler in the turbocharger induction circuit.

Mounted in the airflow at the front of the vehicle, it cools the compressed intake charge leaving the turbocharger before it reaches the intake manifold. Lowering the charge-air temperature raises its density, improving combustion efficiency and helping to control exhaust gas temperatures on the 2.2L Td4 common-rail diesel engine.
