Brake Light Switch mounted at the brake pedal within the stop-lamp circuit.

The switch detects brake pedal application and triggers the rear brake (stop) lights. Its signal is also used by other vehicle systems – such as cruise control and the transmission and stability controllers – that need to know when the brakes are applied. Supplied as a complete switch that fits to the pedal box bracket.

Frequently asked questions

What does the brake light switch do on a Land Rover?
The brake light switch detects when the brake pedal is pressed and switches on the rear stop lights. On these models its signal also feeds the cruise control, transmission and stability control systems, which need to know when you're braking. It mounts to the pedal box bracket.
How do I confirm this brake light switch fits my vehicle?
Confirm fitment using your VIN, as several applications have a build break. It fits Discovery 4 from VIN GA801064, Range Rover L405 from GA267155, Range Rover Sport from DA814632 (2010-2013), and Range Rover Sport L494 from GA565630. Discovery 5 (2017+) is also covered.
What are the signs a brake light switch needs replacing?
Common signs include brake lights that stay on, don't come on, or work intermittently. On these models a faulty switch can also disable cruise control or trigger transmission and stability warnings, since they rely on its signal. It's typically an electrical fault rather than wear.
