Air Conditioning Compressor for the 3.0L V6 diesel - the driven unit at the head of the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.

Mounted on the engine front accessory drive and turned by the auxiliary belt, the compressor draws low-pressure refrigerant vapour from the evaporator and delivers it at high pressure and temperature to the condenser. Heat is rejected there before the refrigerant expands again at the evaporator to cool the cabin air. With the compressor out of service the whole circuit is inoperative, so a loss of cabin cooling is often traced back to this unit or to its drive.

The refrigerant circuit must be evacuated before removal and recharged with the correct refrigerant and oil charge after fitting.
