Turbocharger - exhaust gas driven turbocharger for the 2.0L I4 Ingenium diesel engine, forming the boost stage of the air induction and exhaust system.

Exhaust gas leaving the manifold drives the turbine wheel, which is coupled by a common shaft to the compressor wheel on the induction side. The compressor raises the pressure and density of the intake air, which then passes through the charge air cooler to the inlet manifold. The centre housing runs on the engine's pressurised oil supply, so oil condition and an unrestricted feed and drain are decisive for bearing life.

Turbocharger failure is frequently secondary to an oil supply or induction fault. Establish and correct the underlying cause, and clean or renew the oil feed and drain pipework, before fitting a replacement unit.
