Rear Spring Perch - the upper spring seat at the rear coil spring mounting, forming the chassis-side seat that locates and supports the top of the rear road spring.

Supplied as a weld-in repair section to replace a corroded original spring mount. As a structural suspension mounting it must be welded into position, where it holds the coil spring in lateral alignment and reacts the spring load into the chassis.

Frequently asked questions

What is the rear spring perch on a Discovery 2 and what does it do?
The rear spring perch is the upper spring seat that locates and supports the top of the rear coil spring, reacting the spring load into the chassis. On the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004) it's a weld-in repair section used to replace a corroded original mount and restore correct spring alignment.
Why does the rear spring perch fail on a Discovery 2?
The rear spring perch typically fails through corrosion on the Discovery 2, as the mount traps mud and moisture around the coil spring seat. A rusted-through perch lets the spring shift or drop, causing knocking and uneven ride height. Replacing it restores a sound chassis-side seat for the rear spring.
Can the rear spring perch be fitted at home?
Fitting the rear spring perch is a welding job rather than a bolt-on repair, so it's typically left to a workshop. The corroded section is cut out and the new perch welded into position to react the coil spring load. The rear spring has to be removed and supported first.
How many rear spring perches do I need?
This is sold as a single rear spring perch. The Discovery 2 carries a coil spring on each rear corner, so if both mounts are corroded you'll need two. Many vehicles only rot through on one side, so check both perches and order to match what needs replacing.
