Frequently asked questions

What is the LYR500010 stud used for?
The LYR500010 is a double-ended threaded stud for the exhaust and turbocharger assembly. It gives a fixed, heat-resistant mounting point at a manifold or turbo joint, with one end threaded into the casting and the other carrying a securing nut that clamps the joint.
How many studs does an exhaust or turbo joint need?
Exhaust manifold and turbocharger flange joints typically use several studs each, so count the fixing points on your joint before ordering. The LYR500010 is supplied as a single stud, so order the full quantity the flange requires.
Why use a stud instead of a bolt at an exhaust joint?
Studs are used at exhaust and turbocharger joints because the nut can be removed repeatedly without wearing the casting threads. The LYR500010 stays threaded into the manifold or turbo housing, so the joint is separated by undoing only the nuts, protecting the threads in the casting.
