Rear flexible brake hose, part of the rear hydraulic brake circuit.

The hose carries brake fluid from the rigid body-mounted brake pipe to the rear brake caliper, accommodating relative movement between the body and the suspension while holding full system pressure.

Flexible hoses deteriorate from the inside as well as the outside: internal delamination can act as a one-way valve and hold pressure at the caliper, causing a binding brake and uneven pad wear, while external perishing or bulging under pressure gives a soft, long pedal. Replace hoses in pairs across an axle and bleed the circuit after fitting.
