Air Conditioning Condenser - the heat exchanger on the high-pressure side of the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.

Mounted at the front of the vehicle ahead of the radiator, the condenser takes high-pressure refrigerant vapour from the compressor discharge and rejects its heat into the passing airflow, condensing the refrigerant to a liquid before it passes on to the receiver/drier. Its exposed position makes it vulnerable to stone damage and corrosion, the usual cause of a slow refrigerant leak. Applies to the 3.2 and 4.0 litre engines.

The refrigerant circuit must be discharged, evacuated and recharged with qualified equipment as part of the replacement. Renew the receiver/drier whenever the circuit has been open.
